General Questions
-
What level of skill do I need?
We simply ask that you’re happy riding a bike off road and have a fairly decent level of fitness. The mountains here are probably bigger than you’re used to and you will need some experience of riding rocky rooty trails!
-
What should I bring with me?
Bring the stuff you usually take when you go out biking. We don’t leave town without a helmet, gloves, water, basic tools, tubes and a first aid kit. It can rain here even in the height of summer so bring something waterproof too!
Additional items such as full face helmets and body armour can be hired locally if you do not have them.
-
What kind of bike do I need?
You can ride the mountains on anything from a fully rigid to a full high-end downhill rig. You are better off with somthing that has ‘travel’ as the terrain can be quite tough and a full day in the saddle can leave you a little bruised. We’d recommend as a minimum front suspension and disk brakes. All-mountain bikes fit the bill perfectly, somewhere between 4 and 6 inches of travel front and back, but it’s up to you!
-
Can I hire a bike?
Yes we have a couple of partners offering a variety of options. So whether you don’t want to bring your own bike, or fancy a test drive on something else, let us know and we can arrange for your bike to be ready when you arrive.
